The Undated Era

The Undated Era is the Archive’s least cooperative period. It refuses to sit on any timeline, behave chronologically, or admit it ever had neighbours. It’s the historical equivalent of someone scribbling “None of your business” in every box on a government form.

Fragments from this era tend to arrive without notice, context, or even the courtesy of dust. Some look impossibly old; others feel like they were manufactured last Tuesday by a god with questionable handwriting. They share only one trait: an absolute refusal to explain themselves.

Scholars attempting to classify this era have reported headaches, déjà vu, and in one case, a sudden urge to alphabetise their regrets. None of these symptoms have proven helpful.

The Undated Era is not concerned with where it belongs, and frankly, neither are we. It occupies its own corner of the Archive like a cat that chooses a cardboard box instead of the expensive bed purchased for it.

All we know is this: whenever time becomes confused, bored, or vindictive, it leaves things here.
